Does your dress fit great around the rest of your body, but feel very loose in the middle?

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make a safety pin corset out of only safety pins! Grab your dress and let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Safety pins
  • Ribbon
Adding safety pins

1. Safety pin your dress where you want to take it in

Lay your dress down on the floor and begin to pin down the sides of the back of your dress.

The safety pins should be aligned where you want to take the dress in so it fits snugly across your body.

Do this on both sides. I only used about four safety pins, but use as many as you need to fit the length of your torso or the desired length of your corset.

Adding lace

2. Lace some ribbon through the safety pins

With some ribbon, lace it through the opening of each safety pin.

The two ends should start on the top safety pins of both sides and then alternate crisscrossing all the way down.

Tightening ribbon

3. Tighten and tie off the ribbon

Put your dress back on and pull on the ribbons until the dress fits nice and snug and tie it off with a nice bow.

All done! Look how much better this dress looks now that it fits nicely and hugs my body!
