Moisturizing skin

1. Moisturize your skin

Lock in as much moisture as possible into your skin before you apply your makeup.

I use both a hydrating serum and a day cream every day.

Applying tinted lip balm

2. Apply lip balm

Apply a lip balm to add moisture to your lips. I’m using a colored one, but a clear one would be better.

Priming eyes

3. Apply eye primer

Eye primer works to smooth out the eyelids and any discoloration that occurs. You only need the tiniest amount.

Pat it in with your fingertips, and leave it to settle while you address the rest of your face.

Mixing foundation and primer

4. Mix foundation and primer, and apply it to your skin

To save time in the morning, I mix my foundation with a beauty balm and face primer together.

Use a foundation brush to mix everything on the back of your palm, and apply it to your skin.

Applying foundation

Mixing the foundation with primer helps the foundation glide smoothly over the skin.

It’s important to spend more time putting on the foundation than anything else because it provides the base for the rest of the face.

Setting makeup

5. Set

Set your foundation with translucent powder. Translucent powder helps to form a secure base for everything that goes on top to last all day.

Applying eyeshadow

6. Apply eyeshadow

For my everyday eyeshadow, I use a pewter gray color and apply it with a number 7 blending brush.

With the primer, the eyeshadow blends over smoothly.

Setting eyeshadow

7. Set your eyeshadow with translucent powder

Because I have droopy eyelids, and they tend to touch the upper part of my eye, I set my eyeshadow with translucent powder.

Dab it on and brush off the excess. This helps the eyeshadow stay put and not migrate during the day.

Applying mascara

8. Apply mascara

Apply black waterproof mascara. I tend to just do my upper lashes.

Applying blush

9. Apply blush

Tap a bit of pink mid-tone blush on your cheek with your finger, then smooth it out with a blush brush.

Cleaning up lips

10. Clean up your lips

Use clean tissue to wipe off excess lip balm and any foundation that’s trayed onto your lips.

Applying lipstick

11. Apply lipstick

Apply a single coat of soft plum lipstick.

Blotting lipstick

Blot it, and then apply a second coat.
