Easy Fake Nail Hacks: How to Apply Nail Extensions at Home
Hey guys! I always love to share fake nail hacks with you so I’m excited to share this tutorial with you.
I’m going to get back to the basics and make sure you all know how to properly apply fake nail extensions.
So grab your tips, and your glue and let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Emery board
- Alcohol wipes
- Nail dehydrator
- Nail primer
- Nail glue gel
- Nail tips
1. How to prepare the nails for extension application
It’s very important to prep the nails properly before applying your tips.
Start by filing them well. By this, I mean that you should file the entire bed of each nail, not just the ends.
Once you finish filing and smoothing the nails it’s time to get them nice and clean.
Do this by wiping them down with alcohol wipes. Wipe the nails thoroughly making sure to get the entire nail including the sides.
2. Dehydrate and prime
To continue prepping the nails apply a nail dehydrator. Then apply a nail primer. Now we’re ready to glue the tips.
3. Apply a base coat
For this step, you’re going to need a nail glue gel.
I’m using Betty Cora’s 8-in-1 nail glue gel. Read the instructions and apply this as a basecoat.
4. Glue the tips
We’re finally ready to apply the tips. I am using Betty Cora’s medium almond-shaped matte gel nail tips. These come pre-shaped.
Apply nail glue to the inside of the tips and then press them onto the nails. You’re going to want to do this one nail at a time.
Line the bottom of the press-on to the bottom of your nail, just above the cuticle, and press it in place.
This will help make sure you’re putting the tip lined up properly with the nail.
After applying each tip, cure each nail for 60 seconds.
