Tools and materials:
- Rag rug
- Scissors
- Needle and thread
- Webbing material
- Half-moon rings
- Elastic
- Button
- Shoulder strap with metal clips
- Glue gun (optional)
1. Create the pocket
Rag rugs come in different sizes, as do laptops, tablets, and notebooks. Measure the rug and the laptop to make sure they are a good fit. The device should fit snugly inside the bag and feel well protected by the padding of the rag rug.
Lay the rug on a flat surface. Fold it about ¾ of the way up, leaving about ¼ of the top free for the flap. Sew up the sides or use a glue gun.
2. Make the strap attachment
Take a small piece of the webbing - about 12cm or 4 inches - and loop a half-moon ring through it.
Sew the webbing down at the top right-hand corner of the pocket. Do the same on the left side.
3. Add the closure
Turn the bag inside out. Cut a small piece of elastic and create a loop. Mark the center of the top flap and sew the loop. Place a button halfway down where the flap ends. Make sure they fit each other.
4. Attach the strap
Attach the shoulder strap with metal clips to the half-moon rings.
