5 Easy & Super-Cute Headband Hairstyles For Medium to Long Hair
For today’s tutorial, we’re going to do some cute hairstyles with headbands.
I picked up a few hair accessories from Walmart, and I’m going to show you some headband hairstyles with the headband and hair ties I got. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Headbands
- Bobby pins
- Elastics
Headband hairstyle 1
The first look is super simple—you just put the headband on. This type of headband can be worn in so many ways, and this way is probably the easiest.
It’s super comfy, covers your ears, which is great when the weather gets really nippy, and is absolutely adorable.

The second is, of course, an updo. If you know anything about me, you know I love updos and low buns.
It’s really great to wear on clean hair, dirty hair—whatever kind of hair you got going on. They’re so versatile which is why I love them.
To get this look, leave out some of your hair in the front to frame your face then pull the headband up over the pieces.
Then, as if you were doing a regular ponytail, wrap your hair in a hair tie. Then, for the final wrap, only pull a small amount of your hair through to create this small bun.
Pull the remaining hair into two sections and braid each section down and tie off with an elastic.
Take the two braids, bring them up over your bun, criss-cross them, and tuck the ends underneath the headband.
Voilà!

The next hairstyle is a simplified version of the braided bun we did previously.
Take your hair and begin to wrap it in a ponytail. Once you pull the hair through, flip the ends up toward your head.
Wrap the remaining ends around and twist them around your finger.
Wrap around the ends of the bun then secure with a hair tie.
Pinch and pull at the bun to adjust how you like and you’re done!

For this hairstyle, we’re going to do this cute braided updo.
Put your headband on the top of your head and divide your hair into two sections.
Braid each side. You can do a regular 3-strand braid or spruce it up with a 4-strand, 5-strand braid, or even a fishtail. Have fun with it.
I like to pull on my braids to fan it out a bit for a fuller, more interesting look.
Next, take your braid and wrap it around to the back of your head. Then, tuck your braid underneath the headband and loop it around until you run out of hair. Do this with both sides.
Pinch and pull to fluff out the braid, fill in any gaps, and make it look fuller. Tuck in or bobby pin anything loose.
Here’s the final look!

For this look, we’re going to do bubble braids!
Start off by putting your headband on and separating your hair into two sections like in the previous tutorial.
This time, instead of strand braids, we’re going to do bubble braids. To do this, add three elastics down the hair starting from the shoulder, making sure to leave some hair out in the front to frame your face.
For thicker bubbles, pinch and pull to fluff it out.
Do this to both sides, and you’re done! This one is really fun and gives off a cool hippie vibe.

First, you are just darling! These are all marvelous. I will need some serious practicing. Work with animals so my hair is up anyway, but would love to change it up a little. This looks like fun. Adding to my shopping list! Thanks for sharing!
My hair isn’t as long as the beautiful girl featured in the pictures but I’m looking forward to trying these styles!
