Hi everyone. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make your nails grow faster overnight. Let's get started!

Manicured nails

Before I started using these tips, my nails were short while my cuticles were dry, cracked, and peeling.

Using oil for nail growth turned my nails into this! This is a one-month difference.

Here are some of the things I did to grow my nails:

Damaged nail

1. To prevent breakage, don’t use your nails as tools

If you want your nails to grow, make sure they don’t break. If they do, it’s going to set back any growth you’ve already achieved.

To prevent breakage, remember your nails are jewels, not tools. They’re not meant to scratch off price tags or open boxes and packages.

Get into the habit of training your mind not to use your fingernails as tools. When you’re a little more gentle, your nails will thank you for it.

Gel manicure

2. Gel manicures are lifesavers

Gel manicures completely transformed my nails. I have naturally weak nails, and the gels have helped expedite them growing strong and long.

This doesn’t only extend to gel, but any additional form of protection on your nails works. Except for dip nails.

Dip nails last as long as they do because nail techs typically destroy your nails so that they do stay.

I recommend regular gel or acryl-gel (a combination of gel polish and acrylic powder) manicures.

Applying cuticle oil

3. Keep your nails and hands hydrated

Get into the habit of keeping cuticle oil and hand lotion accessible at all times, especially after washing your hands.

Keeping the nails hydrated encourages growth and keeps them both flexible and durable.

When your nails are dry, they become more brittle and more prone to breaks.

Pushing cuticles back

4. Push your cuticles back

Another way to encourage nail growth is to push your cuticles back.

Get into the habit of doing this at least once a day, or whenever you apply cuticle oil.

Be careful not to cut your cuticles, just push them back. Cuticle health is everything.

Also, pushing your cuticles back extends the nail bed and makes your nails look a little longer.

If you’re trying to get longer nails, work with what you already have.

Manicured nails

5. Keep your nails painted

Many people think your nails should be naked so they can breathe, but I believe you should leave your nails painted, preferably with a gel or gel overlay.

If you want them to look naked, at least put on a clear coat.

When painting, pick a neutral color or your favorite color, something you can tolerate and won’t get sick of.

Removing nail polish can disrupt the surface and counteract any fresh, healthy growth you did achieve.

French manicure

6. Wear a French manicure

French manicures are clean and classy, meaning you’ll wear them longer as recommended in the previous step.

They can also look a little longer than they may be. You can get this look by painting the white tip longer than what’s on your natural nail.

Manicured nails

7. Take note of how much your nails have grown

Do this every day or every week for a month. Every time you’re trying to achieve a goal, it’s good to monitor your progress.

The average person’s nail grows 3.4-3.5mm a month, depending on the care or supplements you’re taking.

When you push your cuticles back, see where your polish ends and how much space is between the color and the cuticle.

Take progress pictures, and see how far you’ve come!

Nail file

8. File them into a round shape

Square nails are so prone to breakage. Because you have two sharp corners, when your nails come into contact with anything, that corner is going to flick right out. Round nails also give the illusion of longer nails.

When you do this, be sure to use a soft file such as a very fine grit file or a glass or crystal vile. Abrasive files will split your nails into layers, so try to avoid that.

Supplements

9. Take supplements

If you want a boost, consider taking a supplement like biotin or collagen.

You can also find supplements in powder form to add to your coffee, so find the one that works best for you and add it to your daily routine.

Base coat

10. Use a strong base coat

If you don’t wear gel and have naturally, stronger nails, replace the gel with a really strong nail strengthener as a base coat.
