I’ve been doing this for so long and I can definitely tell you that it works. If you’re interested to see more and potentially change the way you remove nail polish, then keep reading.

Tools and materials:

  • Cotton pad
  • Cuticle oil
  • Acetone
Applying cuticle oil before acetone

1. Apply cuticle oil

We all know that acetone tends to dry out our cuticles, so the trick here is to use cuticle oil before applying acetone. This works wonders! The oil prevents acetone from drying out your nails.

It will also help the acetone glide better, making the whole process easier. All you need to do is apply a few drops to each nail, as shown.

You can buy cuticle oil, but I prefer to make my own. See my previous tutorial on how to make DIY cuticle oil for nail growth to get the recipe.

Using acetone to remove nail polish

2. Apply acetone

Once you’ve applied the oil, go ahead and swipe the nail with a cotton pad soaked in acetone.

As you know, using only acetone leaves you with crusty dry nails. With this trick, your nails will be left with a gorgeous, hydrated feeling afterward.
