It’s really important to properly remove your makeup if you want to achieve healthy skin. Any residue left over can cause clogged pores which can develop into acne.

Follow along to learn just how to deeply cleanse your face for clear and smooth skin. Let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Micellar water
  • Cotton rounds
  • Face cleanser
  • Niacinamide serum
  • Face moisturizer (gel based)
Applying micellar water

1. Apply micellar water

Squeeze micellar water onto a cotton pad and gently pull the pad across your face.

The micellar water works incredibly well at removing even a full face of makeup. You might need to use more than one cotton pad, depending on what is on your skin to begin with.

2. Cleanse your face

Next up is to clean your face. If you typically wear makeup, I recommend using a cleanser with salicylic acid, an exfoliant that aids in unclogging pores.

3. Apply niacinamide serum

Put a few drops on your face, without touching the pipette to your skin (to prevent the growth of bacteria in your product). Rub it gently and thoroughly with clean fingers.

Just a side note: this isn’t particularly my night-time skincare routine, rather the steps I use when I want to take off my makeup, regardless of the time of day.

4. Moisturize

For the final step of taking off makeup, apply moisturizer. I’m currently using a gel-based cream. Like before, apply with clean hands.
