How To Style Gloves With Your Outfit

Baby, it’s cold outside! That means it’s glove season. Gloves come in various styles and materials, so you can dress for the warmth you need or match your gloves to your outfit. You can even jazz up an outfit with gloves in an interesting print, color or material.

Most winter gloves are made of warm, insulated material, such as wool or down, to protect hands from cold weather. Many are lined with a water-resistant fabric to keep hands dry and warm.

Dress gloves are more for fashion or formal occasions. They can be long or short and come in various colors and patterns. They can also keep your hands warm and elevate your look, but they aren’t the best choice for those cold days because they are usually a thinner material.

With everyone on their phones and computers all the time, now there are also some innovative options to keep your hands warm but still be able to type.

You’ll also notice that gloves come in different sizes. If you don’t know your glove size, you can check out the handy guide here.

Here are a few options for how to style gloves with your outfit.

Get Things Done with Fingerless Gloves

Busy people, you don’t have to let your hands freeze to still get things done! It seems counter-intuitive to have fingerless gloves because half of your hand is still exposed but they can still provide a degree of warmth while allowing for freedom of using your hands for typing, playing instruments or using tools. Some gloves are finger-less the come with an attached covering that turns the glove into a mitten when fingerwork isn’t needed.  Shop fingerless gloves.

Stay in Touch with Touchscreen Gloves

For those whose biggest concern is still being able to use your phone with gloves one, there are now touchscreen gloves. These gloves are embedded with patches of conductive materials on your typical texting fingers, so you can still use the touchscreen on your phone without taking your gloves off. Genius! You can usually spot them because the patches are visible on the gloves, as in the ones I have on. They come in a variety of materials, from wool to leather.  Shop touchscreen gloves.

Toughen Up With Leather Gloves

I’ll never forget my mom taking me to school, and she would put on a pair of leather gloves. She called them her “driving gloves.” While that may sound old-fashioned now (do we really use our “glove compartment” in the car for gloves anymore?) But leather gloves never go out of style. Sleek, durable and just plain cool-looking leather gloves can be worn for style even if it isn’t that cold outside. Pair them with a leather jacket, and you will have an edgy chic look that makes a statement.  Shop leather gloves.

Get Dressed Up with Long Gloves

Getting dressed up feels a little extra special when you add gloves to an outfit. Evening gloves come in various lengths: short, classic, elbow and opera. For more on the exact measurements,  read here. Long evening gloves work best with sleeveless dresses or short sleeves. They are also great for keeping your arms warm! They come in various fabrics, from stretchy nylon and satin for a sleek fit with a sheen to soft suede leather to crisp cotton. With vintage wear becoming more trendy, dress gloves have recently come back in style, mimicking ladies of decades past who traditionally wore gloves with every outfit, especially evening wear.  Shop evening gloves.

Now that you know how to style gloves with your outfit, which ones will you wear?
