4 Super Easy Ways to Tie a Headscarf
Today, I am going to show you how to tie a headscarf.
Whether you want to wear a scarf to protect your hair, to keep your head a bit warmer, or simply as an accessory, there are loads of great ways to tie headscarves out there. Here, I’ll be sharing four of them with you.
Tools and materials:
- Hair tie
- Square scarf
- Long rectangular scarf
Vintage vibes style
1. Tie hair into a bun
Grab all of your hair, gather it on top of your head and tie it into a messy high bun.
2. Place scarf over head
Fold a square scarf into a triangle and then place it over your head so that the long side is at the bottom of your head.
3. Tie a knot
Tie the two ends in a tight double knot at the front of your head (behind your bangs if you have bangs).
4. Fold the flap inward
Fold the flap at the back inward and tuck it away underneath the rest of the scarf.
You can decide how far you want to tuck this. If you're wearing the scarf to hide your hair underneath, then you may want to cover everything.
I think that this look gives a nice vintage vibe.
You can also tuck it a little bit more to make it look like a headband.
If you don’t like the pointy bits of the knot sticking out at the front, then you can tuck them into the top.
Summery boho style
1. Place scarf around neck
Take a long rectangular scarf and put it around your neck, so it’s underneath your hair.
2. Twist the scarf
Bring the scarf up towards the front of your hair and twist either side at the front to wrap them around each other.
3. Tie a knot
Bring the scarf back underneath and then bring both ends to one side and tie them together.
That's it! It’s really simple, looks super summery, and kind of boho.
This is a great style for using long scarves that you don't really know what to do with.
Statement bow style
1. Tie a knot
Fold a square scarf into a triangle and place it over your head so that the long side is at the bottom of your head (just like the first style we did, only this time your hair is down and not tied up).
Tie a knot at the front over the front triangle.
2. Make two loops
Flip the triangle back. Then take the two ends that you have at the front and fold them both to create loops.
3. Make a bow
Tie them together to make a bow over the little triangle.
4. Spread out the bow
Spread the two bow loops to open them up.
If any of the triangle is still sticking out, tuck it underneath the knot or tuck it into one of the sides of the bow.
I prefer this look without bangs, so I hid them underneath my scarf.
This is a great look for covering your hair to protect yourself from the sun.
Double knot style
1. Roll up a scarf
For this look, you can use a shorter, narrow, rectangle scarf or use a square scarf and roll it up to make it narrower.
2. Tie a knot
Wrap the scarf around your head so that the open sides are at the front, and then just tie it with a double knot.
That's it! Super simple but still really cute.
