Easy Sewing Hack for When Your Jeans Are Too Long

A big problem that I have with trousers is that the legs are always too long. If your jeans are too long too, I have a simple solution to share with you. This method is really easy and even allows you to keep the original jem. Let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Jeans to shorten
- Measuring tape
- Pins
- Sewing machine or thread and needle
- Scissors
1. Determine how much length you want to take off
Firstly, you’ll need to put your jeans on to determine how much length you want to take off.
I want to take four inches off from the length, so I fold the hem outwards on the right side by two inches (4 ÷ 2).
2. Pin it in place
Then, pin that in place. Make sure that the side seams are matching so you don't have a wonky trouser when you're done.
3. Sew
Now, the trick to maintaining the original hem is to sew on the inside, close to the edge of the previous seam.
Take it to the sewing machine and sew close to the seam.
If you don't have a sewing machine, you can go ahead, and hand sew this.
4. Fold and press
Once you're done sewing, fold the excess in and press.
5. Cut off any excess fabric
Because this particular jean is a skinny jean, any excess fabric at the hem will make it bulky.
You can go ahead and cut away the excess fabric, if need be, leaving about half an inch allowance.
6. Zigzag stitch the edge (optional)
You can also leave the edge raw, or you can finish it off with a zig-zag stitch.
A simple hack for when your jeans are too long
