2 Easy Ways to Make Cute Resin Leaf Earrings at Home
I recently saw that resin leaf earrings had become a huge trend, and I decided to try this out for myself. Watch how I make these stunning, natural DIY leaf earrings from this beautiful shrub that I have in my backyard. The process is pretty simple, and the results are exquisite!
Tools and materials:
- Leaves
- Earring hooks
- Jump rings (large and small)
- Resin
- Foam block
- Gold leafing
- Pliers
- Sponge brush
- Paper
- Gloves
1. Pick your leaves
So, I grabbed two-sized leaves for this project. Remember to try to find two of the same sizes for each set that you’re making.
2. Prep the leaves
Trim off the stems.
Now, take a needle and push it through the bottom of the leaf. This hole will be for the jump ring.
3. Add the jump ring
Now, open your large jump ring with your jewelry pliers and insert it through the hole. Be careful; the leaf is super delicate and may tear. Repeat the process on your other leaf and close the jump rings.
4. Mix your resin
Start mixing your resin following the manufacturer’s directions. Remember to wear gloves!
5. Add the resin
Now, take a foam applicator brush and apply a thin layer of resin onto your leaves. Don’t cake it on otherwise, it will look bulky.
6. Add gold leaf
Using pliers, place little bits of the gold leafing onto your leaves. Be sure to add gold to both sides of the earrings.
7. Add the fastenings
Now, place your second, smaller jump ring through the first and close it up.
Attach the hook earring. Then, let the resin dry for 24 hours before wearing your earrings.
Bonus: Sparkly stud design
Alternatively, you can take a pair of inexpensive studs and poke them through the top part of the leaves. Then, add your resin with a sponge brush and wait for it to dry! Be sure to attach the studs to a foam block, so it keeps the earrings stable.
