Create your charm

Choose the length and size of your wire based on how big and thick you want your charm to be. I went with the 18 gauge. The first step is to take pliers and grab the end of the wire. Create a loop by folding the wire around the plier and towards itself. Next, create a second, larger loop, by grabbing the area next to the loop with the bottom (thicker part) of the wire and twisting the wire towards the loop. Bring the wire all the way around to create a circle. Finally, create the final loop, by grabbing the wire with the thin end of the plier and turning it inwards once again.

Make the ring

To make your ring, take your remaining wire and wrap it around your wood mandrel. Starting from the charm and turning inwards (around the wood mandrel and towards the charm). Fix the ring to be the size that you want (this could affect how long your original piece of wire needs to be). Loop the edge of the wire through the ear and then use some pliers to fold the wire back so it resembles a hook (pictured above). Push the wire under the band of the ring until it forms a circle.

Finish the ring

Use an anvil and hammer to flatten the band of the ring in order to provide it more strength and support. However, if you prefer a pendant, bracelet, or keychain, simply make the charm and attach it to your chain of choice.
