I got some white painters overalls and I wanted to spice them up!

I thought they looked a little to plane and started by laying them on a plastic sheet to protect my floors.

Then I got some paint, I like the Mondo Llama from Target for fabrics, and some sponges.

I traced a heart in the sponges and cut them out as a stencil.

Then poured some paint on a paper plate and started creating a pattern on the overalls.

I elicited a little helper to get the job done. She thought we should use two different colors as the pattern and I obliged.

The sponge did start becoming very wet with paint half way through so it might be wise to wear gloves. It also went through the fabric on to the back of the overalls which was kind of perfect since the pattern continued on the other side. I didn't worry about the hearts being exactly alike and liked the variation. I let it all dry for a full 24 hours before moving them to make sure they were fully dry.
