It’s a simple technique that you can do quickly, so let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Hair elastics
Making ponytail

1. Make a ponytail

Start with a simple half up ponytail where you want your braid to begin.

2. Flip your ponytail

Flip your ponytail through the hair elastic from the top, pulling through the bottom.

3. Keep flipping

Now, with your fingers, make a hole at the top of your ponytail, just above the hair elastic.

Take your hair from one side of your head, and pull it through that hole.

Repeat with the hair on the other side of your head.

With the rest of your ponytail, simply make a traditional braid.

Use your fingers to gently loosen the braid.
