Tools and materials:

  • Bobby pin
Tying half-ponytail

1. Tie half-ponytail

Start by tying your hair in a half-ponytail.

Inserting hair loop tool

2. Insert hair loop tool

Place the hair loop tool above the half-ponytail like so.

Wrapping hair

3. Wrap hair around loop

Take a small section of hair from the half-ponytail, wrap it around the loop, and then pull the bottom of the hair loop tool.

This will create the center of your bow.

Clipping hair

4. Clip hair

Next, clip this section of hair on the top of your head so that it is out of the way.

Putting hair through bobby pin

5. Put hair through bobby pin

Take a small section of hair from next to the half-ponytail and thread the end through a wide bobby pin.

Pulling hair through center

6. Pull through center

Pull that section of hair through the center of your bow.

Don’t pull it all the way through, though, as you just want to create the loop of a bow.

Repeating process

7. Repeat

Now, repeat on the other side of your hair.

Take a small section of hair, put the end through a large bobby pin, and pass it through the center to form the other side of the bow loop.

Passing hair through center

8. Pass hair through center

The final step is to unclip the hair from the top of your head and pass it behind the bow using the hair loop tool.
