How to Do Black & Gold New Year’s Nails With Fun Firework Designs
In this tutorial, I’m going to show how to recreate these New Year’s nails in black and gold, perfect for a midnight firework celebration. 2022 is just on the horizon, and the first item on my list of resolutions is to ring in the new year in style!
Whether you’re attending a countdown party surrounded by your favorite people, or you’re snuggled up in bed catching up on all the holiday episodes of your favorite sitcoms, start the new year with a fresh look with this easy firework nail design.
Tools and materials:
- Base coat
- Black nail polish
- Gold nail polish
- White nail polish
- Blue nail polish
- Clear nail polish/top coat
- Thin brush
1. Paint nails black
Apply a base coat before painting your nails black. Let them dry.
2. Paint gold designs
With your gold nail polish and a very thin brush, draw a clock. The thinner the brush, the more detail you can use.
I opted for this very simple analog clock design, using tiny dots to signify the individual hours. Optionally, you can print the 3, 6, 9, and 12 hours.
When your clock is finished, draw a thin gold line around the edge of your nail to make it pop.
3. How to do easy firework nails
Next, we’re going to work on the fireworks. Use a normal-sized brush with white nail polish to form the basic shape, and then, with the thin brush, use tiny strokes to extend the nail polish into individual bursts of light.
Repeat this same process with the blue and gold nail polish. You can overlap the fireworks to add the illusion of depth to your fireworks.
4. Apply a top coat
Let your nails dry. After they’re completely dry, apply a top coat to finish off the design.
