How to Do a Red Lip Makeup Look For a Date Night or Special Occasion
Today, I’m going to show you a red lip makeup look you can do for a date night or holiday dinner look. It’s a very simple makeup look that you do for any occasion. Let’s get started!
Tools and Materials.
- Eyebrow pencil
- Concealer
- Setting powder
- Cream contour
- Powder contour
- Highlighter
- Cream blush
- Lip liner
- Lipstick
1. Fill in your brows
I always start by doing my eyebrows and I just use an eyebrow pencil to do this.
2. Conceal
Next, conceal around your eyebrows, under your eyes, and upwards from the corner of your eye so it can lift your face.
I also concealed my mustache area, on my chin, and drew a line down my cheek. I usually let this sit for ten minutes. I know that sounds long, but it’s worth it because it makes the concealer sit longer so you have a fuller coverage compared to when you just blend it out immediately.
3. Blend in concealer
Okay, I put on some lashes, and let’s blend. Once you start blending, you can immediately see the coverage. It’s incredible.
For your under-eye concealer, you want to blend up towards the inner corner. It lifts your face while also giving you definition.
4. Set
Set with a setting powder. I usually do this quickly before it starts creasing because creasing is the worst thing to happen to your look. I try not to bake because I find it’s too cakey for me, so as I’m going in with the powder, I like to blend it in quickly.
5. Cream contour
Now we want to contour because our look is too bright, so I just contour right on my cheekbones and already it’s adding dimension to the face.
I also contour just under my jaw and chin and around my forehead, hitting basically the outer parameters of the face.
6. Powder contour
After that, I like to use powder contour. Cream contour can feel a bit sticky for me, so I like to set it with a powder contour. I just dab a little bit and take it along where I’ve cream contoured.
I also like to contour the sides of my nose up to my eyebrows with a smaller brush.
As well as the bottom of my nose.
7. Highlight
To highlight, I highlight the bridge and tip of my nose. I just think it makes my nose look so much cuter.
8. Cream blush
Now that we’re done with our base and it’s clean and not too cakey, we can move on to blush, which is my favorite step. For blush, I do the lightest dab.
I love blush, but you can go really wrong with it and I have before, so only add a little bit to the brush. Then, I just add it to my cheekbone. Try your best not to smile, because when you smile, it drags the blush down and can make your face look really round and flustered.
9. Line and fill in your lips
For lips, I line them first using a brown liner. When doing bold red lip makeup, I can’t add the red lipstick right on top of my lips since it needs to blend because I have darker skin.
Now that they’re lined, we can go in with the red lipstick.
