DIY slides are an amazing addition to have for your summer style! I’m going to show you three ways that you can transform your slide shoes to make them look cute and stylish.

This is a super-fun and creative project, and I can’t wait to show you the results. So, without further ado, let’s get right into it!

Tools and materials:

  • Plastic flowers
  • Hot glue gun
  • Slides
  • Adhesive rhinestones
  • Spray paint
  • Cardboard

DIY flower slides

Fake flowers from the dollar store

So, I got these flowers from the $1 store, and they are so pretty! Simply pick out each flower from each stem. As you can see, I’m using a wide variety of flowers of different colors and sizes.

Cutting up the flowers

The white ones didn’t have stems, so I had to cut them off as opposed to pulling them off.

Sticking the flowers to the slides

The next step is to glue the flowers onto your slides using a hot glue gun.

Gluing the flowers with a hot glue gun

There’s no particular order to glue these flowers; you can do any design you wish! I started with the big ones and worked my way to the smaller flowers.

Cutting the flowers to size

If you want a medium-sized flower, you can cut the larger one and take off two layers.

There you have it; you now have a pair of DIY flower slides. I think it’s such a beautiful design and truly unique, too.

DIY rhinestone slides

Rhinestone adhesive gems

If you’re all about the dazzle, then these DIY slides are for you. I got these adhesive gems that I’ll be sticking onto my white slides.

Sticking rows of adhesive rhinestones to the slides

Simply stick each adhesive row to your slides.

Pressing down the rhinestone strips

Then, press it down, so it sticks.

Using a hot glue gun to make sure they adhere well

You can use your glue gun to make sure they stick on well. I did burn my fingers, so please take extra precautions when working with the glue gun!

Adding a strip at the bottom

Stick another line right at the bottom to have a cleaner finish.

Bling, bling! These DIY rhinestone slides are super cute, don’t you think?

DIY painted slides

Attempting the hydro dip the slides

So, for the next DIY slide design, I first wanted to use the hydro dip method, but it did not work! My slides must have been too foamy because the color did not catch on at all.

Spray painting the slides

I went for the next best thing and decided to spray paint them.

Spray painting the slides in blue and rose gold

I love spray painting, and I thought this would be fun! I went for a blue theme and sprayed my shoes in all shades of blue.

I also used a rose gold accent color. Keep spraying the paint until you’re happy with your creation. Leave the slides out to dry before wearing them.

Painted slides

You have yourself a pair of painted slides for the summer! I love how these turned out.
