How I Upcycled My Grandma's Wedding Dress to Fit Into My Wedding Day
I am so excited to show you how I upcycled my grandma’s wedding dress to fit into my wedding day.
I wanted to incorporate pieces of her dress into my overall look rather than wearing the actual dress.
Hopefully, this will give you ideas for ways to honor your loved ones on your special day.
Tools and materials:
- Padded, white wedding dress hanger
- White shoes
- Micro pearls
- Gold studs
- Decorative butterfly wings (optional)
- Fabric glue
1. Lace up your shoes
Use the lace from your grandma’s dress to turn a pair of plain white pumps into gorgeous one-of-a-kind wedding shoes.
Measure and cut the lace to the shoes. Cut the lace and use fabric glue to glue it to your shoes.
I also added some decorative gold studded butterfly wings I created.
2. Hang on
Another great way to incorporate your grandma’s dress into your wedding day is to use it to customize the hanger for your wedding gown.
Again, measure and cut the fabric, this time to fit the hanger. Use fabric glue to adhere the lace to the hanger.
I recommend using a padded silky white hanger to enhance the wedding vibes.
I made and glued on some matching butterfly wings covered in micro-pearls for the hanger as well.
These are just two ideas for ways to include your grandmother’s wedding dress on your wedding day.
It doesn’t always make sense to wear the actual dress, so get creative and find interesting ways to work it into the day.
