DIY Dupe Jimmy Choo and Timberland Glitter Boots Tutorial

Tools and materials:

• Timberland-style boots
• Amber crystals of various sizes (large, medium, and small)
• Decorative trim matching the amber crystals
• Rhinestone grommets for laces (optional)
• Gem glue or adhesive
• Precision applicator for glue
• Gem grabber or tweezers
• E6000 adhesive
• Scissors

1. Apply crystals to the boots

Before you get started, prepare your work area.

Lay out your boot and organize your crystals by size. Place your gem grabber or tweezers within easy reach, and ensure you have a clean, well-ventilated workspace.

Now you’re really ready to get started!

Begin with the large amber crystals. Apply gem glue to the area of the boot where you want to place the crystals. You can work in small sections at a time so the gem glue doesn’t dry out. 

This is basically a place and repeat process, alternating the size of your gems.

2. Add medium and small crystals

Continue the process by alternating between large, medium, and small crystals. 

Create straight lines across the top of the boots to ensure a clean, even appearance.

As you get close to the end, again create a nice clean line along the edge and then fill in the space with your crystals.

3: Work on the edge detail

Once you've covered the top part of the boots, focus on the sole detail. 

Apply gem glue all along the edge and the top of the sole.

Place your amber crystal trim over the glued area to create a decorative border. Ensure that the trim aligns neatly with the edge. 

I found that placing the trim with the crystals facing downward created better sparkle than with the crystals facing upward.

4. Finish the edge detail

Trim off any excess trim material and secure the ends of the trim to ensure it looks neat. 

Hide the seams of the trim on the inside of the boots, near the center of the foot.

5. Add rhinestone grommets for laces (optional)

If you want to add rhinestone grommets for laces, use the smallest crystals you have. 

Apply a very thin line of glue on to the grommets and carefully place the crystals, outlining each grommet.

I need 12 crystals per grommet to fully outline the grommet.

Allow the glue to dry.
