Have a Friend Secretly Pick Out Your Fabric!!
I recently participated in a Secret Sewist event for Love Notions sewing patterns. It’s a super fun event where each Ambassador is secretly paired with another. You then Fabric shop for that Ambassador you are paired with and give them some ideas of what Love Notions patterns you would like to see them make with the fabric. You can check out the Love Notions Blog for more on that reveal if you want.
Well, the Ambassador who had my name completely nailed it for me. She knew I loved jumpsuits and bright colors. So she picked this darling pink floral rib knit fabric and suggested a couple patterns and hacks. She even suggested a jumpsuit hack on the Lenox pattern, which was something I had been dreaming of doing for a while. Rather than do a jumpsuit though I decided to do a faux jumpsuit so I could get more wear out of this make. I chose the Tinley full short and the Lenox square neck cropped shirt views. When worn together they totally look like a little dress/jumpsuit.
Together or Separate, they look Great!
But I also love wearing them separately. Paring the shorts with a black shirt and converse high tops is a favorite.
And I love wearing the shirt with my favorite jeans. I used the Largo Pattern and a pair of my husband’s old jeans for these awesome pants. Check this post for all the details on these jeans.
A Few Simple Pattern Changes…
Now, I did have to alter the Lenox pattern a little. I lengthened the pattern pieces by 4 inches. The front side panel I lengthened at the shorten/lengthen line.
The back and center front pieces I just added to the bottom. I don’t remember why I did it that way, but I did and it worked great!
The only change I made to the Tinley was the waistband. I did a yoga waistband by cutting the front waistband on the fold so it would be wide enough to go around my waist. I did end up using 1 ½ inch elastic inside the waistband too. Just to give it extra security around my waist.
The Lenox pattern has been a favorite of mine since its release. You can check this post is you want to see how I added pockets to my Lenox dress. Or this post to see how I upcycled a skirt into a Lenox top.
I have used the Tinley pattern nearly a dozen times this summer because it has the most simple “secret” biker short pattern included. It’s intended to be worn under the shorts and skirt but it’s great on its own too. You can check this post to see how I added pockets to some Tinley biker shorts.
