How to Put Timeless Outfits Together

Of course we all want to hit the 2021 fashion trends but as Coco Chanel famously said, 'Fashion changes but style endures.' Before you start playing around with trends, it's a good idea to have a solid collection of key wardrobe essentials on hand to ensure your outfits are always classic and timeless.

The Burberry scarf in their classic camel check pattern is the newest addition to my wardrobe and already I've seen how quickly and easily it can elevate any Fall or Winter outfit.

Worn loose, wrapped in a multitude of clever ways or tucked into the belt of your coat, this scarf is the definition of a timeless wardrobe staple especially for Autumn outfits.

The scarf itself is the statement piece so I like to pair it with neutral items, but the classic check has red running through it too so you could wear it with red outfits and it would look amazing. The scarf is also available in a number of alternative colours if camel isn't your thing.

I love to look to the 60s, my favourite style decade, for timeless outfit ideas. One of my favourite ways to wear my mini skirts is with over-the-knee boots and a rollneck jumper. This is a classic 60s outfit style but is just as relevant today, with fashion icons like Freddy My Love and Alexa Chung wearing variations of this look on a regular basis.

You don't have to spend a fortune to get a classic, timeless look. I took inspiration from one of my favourite films, The Devil Wears Prada, for the above Chanel-esque look. When I saw this pearl-trim blazer on the Shein website, it immediately reminded me of Andy's blazer in the amazing makeover scene!

Keeping the rest of your outfit neutral and then adding a pop of colour, such as with this green bag from Ted Baker, is a great way to make a classic outfit more contemporary.

I will never stop talking about how quickly a cape can make your outfit look stylish! You don't have to spend a lot of money on capes because they automatically look glamorous and expensive, since they are such statement items and a lot of people are afraid to wear them. Nothing is more timeless and elegant than self-confidence!

Lately I am constantly adding my Loewe belt to my outerwear because it instantly elevates my look. Switching out the matching belt that comes with your wrap coats for one of your own is a great way to make both your coats and your belts work harder. It's all about getting as many different looks as possible out of your capsule wardrobe - it's more sustainable and better for your bank balance!
