Classy Summer Outfit Ideas

Summer is wonderful when you can sip cocktails, eat barbecued food and enjoy time with your loved ones, but it can be hard to know what to wear on the days when you're stuck indoors working! Or even when you are able to go out and enjoy the weather, hot days can be difficult if you don't like showing too much skin. Here's some outfit inspiration to help keep you cool without feeling over-exposed.

Midi and maxi dresses are a great choice for hot days as long as they are in lightweight fabrics. Cut-out designs keep you that little bit cooler while also making a statement. There are all sorts of cut-out styles to suit lots of bodyshapes.

A floppy straw hat is of course the perfect summer accessory. Sunhats add protection as well as elegance and sophistication. A slogan hat like this 'Do Not Disturb' one is also a great way to make a statement with your outfit without going OTT.

This next look is perfect for cooler summer days when you want to be a little more covered up. In England, we can't rely on weeks of warm weather! This H&M dress is still available and looks good on so many people's figures. I like to stick to neutral colours, even when I go for florals, so that I can accessorise easily with all my shoes, bags and hats.

Shirred dresses never really go out of style but are particularly on trend in 2021. If you have a large bust, these are great because you can even get away without wearing a bra which is brilliant for really hot days. The shirred fabric holds you in, though you won't get as much of a lift as you would with a bra.

These dresses are readily available on the high street so choose something in a block colour like this gorgeous candy pink one from Zara. That way, it will look a little more expensive because it's not immediately recognisable where it's from.

Whenever I'm showing off a bit of skin, I like to take the age-old advice of only ever showing legs or cleavage, never both. I like to choose short dresses with higher necklines for this reason. Adding a belt to a white dress like this breaks up the look and cinches in your waist to make it even more flattering.

Straw accessories are my favourite thing in Summer! This is actually a picnic basket, not a bag, but I think it looks great with the outfit!
