Easy DIY Turmeric Face Mask Recipe
Hi everyone! In this tutorial I will share a fun turmeric face mask DIY.
To be honest, I did not expect to look like Shrek when I made this mask, but I have to say it does a great job clearing up acne and acne scars.
Follow along while I show you how to make this turmeric face mask, and explain the benefits of the ingredients used.
Disclaimer: When applied to the skin, turmeric can sometimes cause temporary staining, so please proceed with caution! You may wish to use slightly less turmeric than the recipe recommends.
Tools and materials:
- Measuring cup
- Glass container
- Wooden spatula
- Mixing bowl
- Brush
- Clean towel
- European clay powder
- Turmeric powder
- Rice water
- Turmeric essential oil (or any essential oil you prefer)
- Moisturizer
1. Mix the ingredients
Start by pouring about two ounces of clay into a measuring cup.
Add approximately one tablespoon of turmeric powder.
Pour the clay and turmeric mixture into a mixing bowl.
Gradually add a little over two ounces of rice water.
Stir and add rice water until you reach a paste-like consistency.
Lastly, add about 10 drops of turmeric essential oil (or your chosen essential oil), and mix it in.
Transfer your mask to a clean glass jar that can be tightly closed.
2. Apply your mask
Wash your face and pat it dry, making sure your skin is clean before applying the mask.
Use a large makeup brush to apply the mask to your face. Avoid using your fingers, as it can get messy.
Apply an even layer across your face, avoiding the eye and mouth areas.
Now you understand my reference to Shrek!
Allow the mask to dry on your face for about 15 minutes or until you feel the mask has tightened on your skin.
3. Rinse off the mask and moisturize
Gently rinse off the mask with warm water until your skin is clean. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.
Apply your favorite moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated, as the mask can be drying.
The mask is suitable for weekly use for about a month.
