Learn how to make turmeric infused oil. Turmeric is great for your skin, but it can stain. By infusing the spice in a carrier oil, you get the benefits of turmeric in your skin care products without staining your skin.

Turmeric is naturally anti inflammatory and can promote healing, so this turmeric infused oil is good for both your face and your body. Use it for a body butter for dry skin or in a face oil. Turmeric can stain the skin, but this turmeric oil infusion won't stain your skin.

I used sweet almond oil to infuse my oil. It's a great all purpose oil, so you can use it for the face or body. You can also use grapeseed oil for a lighter oil or avocado oil for a moisturizing oil.

You will need:

Add the almond oil to a jar. I used an 8 ounce mason jar and filled it half way.

Then add the turmeric and stir well.

Then place a cap on the jar and let sit for four to five weeks. Alternately, you can use heat to speed up the infusion. I put canning rings in the bottom of a pan and set the jar on top of them. This keeps the oil off of the bottom of the pan. Then fill the pan with water to cover the oil (or close to covering if your pan is shallow). Turn the heat on low and let heat for half an hour. Don't boil the water, you want a low heat. Turn off the stove and let the oil sit in the water until cool.

Then pour the oil through a fine mesh sieve into another jar.

You can use your turmeric infused oil in place of a carrier oil in most recipes. I like to add a drop or two to my moisturizer before using it. Find more ways to use it in my turmeric oil recipe post.
