Festive Outfit Ideas for 2023 From New Look

Halloween and Black Friday are over which can only mean one thing... we're taking Michael and Mariah off ice, we're braving the spiders in the attic and bringing the tree down, A Muppet's Christmas Carol is playing nonstop on the TV... it's time to dress for the holidays!

This purchase was a bit of a wildcard but I actually ended up loving it most out of my New Look haul! For the holidays, a sparkly knit serves so many purposes. It keeps you warm and comfy without going into weird and wacky Christmas jumper territory, and can be easily dressed up or down. Wear with paperbag trousers for a cute work-from-home look, a black mini skirt and opaque tights for a 60s inspired office look, or jeans for a cosy night at the pub.

This is a great one to have in your wardrobe for festive work lunches, which often pop up out of the blue and multiple times at this time of year.

Is this the perfect party co ord or is this the perfect party co ord?

The beauty of co ords is that they can be styled together or separately, helping you get more from your wardrobe and from your money. This is also such a comfy party outfit but it looks so glam! At the end of the day, it's a long sleeved top and a high-waisted midi skirt - it's not going to ride up like so many party dresses do, and you can wear pretty much whatever bra you like - a godsend for those of us with big boobs.

Everyone loves a bit of sparkle sparkle at this time of year, but the diamante trim on these pieces isn't too OTT and looks so beautiful next to the black material. Just be careful when you wash it!

This jumper and joggings loungewear set is perfect for cosy candlelit movie nights or for those less romanticised days where we have a killer hangover and just want to lay on the sofa eating chips... both are equally valid because life is all about balance.

I was hoping to live my Cameron-Diaz-in-The-Holiday loungewear dream but sadly it's a little too oversized for me as I prefer "smarter" loungewear (if there is such a thing), but if you love the athleisure look then this will be absolutely spot-on. If you find yourself having to leave the comfort of home and head out into the real world, wear with leather trainers and a straight-cut coat to balance out the casual sportswear vibes.

It isn't the festive season if you don't wear velvet or sequins, and this dress has both. Sadly it was a little long for me, but if you are taller, or average height but like midi dresses, this little black halterneck dress would be perfect for cocktails with the girls.

With such a statement dress, it's best to go for pared-down accessories, such as a minimalist pair of black slingback heels and timeless diamond earrings.
