9 Cute New Year's Eve Outfit Ideas, From Comfy & Casual to Partywear

In this style guide, I’m going to show you some New Year party outfit ideas. Whatever your personal aesthetic, I have you covered. I’ve styled a whole bunch of different outfits to suit different personalities. So sit back, relax and get ready for some NYE inspiration!

Shirtdress outfit for New Year's Eve

1. Shirtdress

The first New Year’s Eve party outfit idea is this shirt dress in corduroy material. I love the patchy color block style.

Not everyone wants to wear sequins or gold to ring in the new year, so I feel that this dress is a great in-between option; it’s not too casual and not too dressy.

I’ve styled it with black over-the-knee boots because they’re just a classic that you can never go wrong with. All in all, this is a casual yet chic outfit that strikes the perfect balance.

New Year's Eve outfit with high-waisted flared pants

2. Flared pants

For the next outfit, we have these wide-leg pants in a mustard color. The pants are asymmetric as they have a buckle on the side, which is a nice little twist. I also love how high-waisted they are.

I paired the pants with a white top that is not your classic plain white button-up. It has a fringe pocket, which is a fun bit of detail and dresses the outfit up that bit more.

I’m wearing nude booties for footwear, although you can’t really see them as the pants are so long. A black clutch is the last piece of the puzzle.

Sparkly sequined dress for a New Year's Eve party

3. Sparkly sequins

This sequined dress is your most typical New Year’s Eve outfit idea. I love how bling this dress is and I love dressing up to the nines to bring in the new year!

Another big plus with this dress is that it is super comfy and not itchy on the inside, which sequined dresses sometimes can be. The dress sleeves are a bit poofy and it also has some ruching on the front; these little details really add a lot to the overall look.

I added hosiery for a wintery vibe and opted for a pair of classic black pumps. A small rose gold clutch finishes off the look.

Printed blouse and leather pants outfit for New Year's Eve

4. Printed blouse

Here, I’ve gone for a printed blouse. This is a great option if you want to make a statement but don’t want to wear something sequined or too "out there."

You can take a statement top and pair it with faux leather leggings, a skirt, or even jeans; really anything on the bottom, and you’ll still have a nice dressed-up look for New Year’s Eve.

I love the brick red color of this top and the fit with its high neck and flowy-ness on the bottom. I went with ankle booties for shoes.

Bright yellow tweed dress for New Year's Eve

5. Tweed

For my ladies who don’t like traditional holiday colors, this tweed dress in a bright, bold yellow is for you. I love the details here: the lantern-style poofy sleeves, the gold buttons going down the front, and two front pockets.

This dress gives me Jackie Kennedy in the 60s vibe, yet still feels modern and contemporary. I styled the dress with gold low-heeled mules and finished the look off with a small plain black clutch.

6. Red bustier

In this outfit, I’m wearing a rusty red top that has a bustier type of silhouette. It also has a square-cut neckline, which gives you the option of wearing a statement necklace.

A top like this has a lot of styling potential. You could wear it with wide-leg pants or jeans, like I have done, to keep it more casual.

I’ve dressed this outfit up with a gold chain belt, gold heels, and a sequined bag. Never forget about the power that a few accessories can have.

7. Fuzzy coat

The last three ideas I’m going to show you are all statement coats that I feel would finish off your New Years’ Eve look or work if you're counting down to midnight outside.

First, we have this great fuzzy coat with a silver shimmer. I’ve gone for a simple all-black base underneath and the jacket makes the outfit stand out.

Blue tweed coat for New Year's Eve celebrations

8. Tweed coat

Next is a tweed coat in blue. There is so much detail going on here. It has big gold buttons going down the front and showstopper sleeves. Again, I’ve styled it with an all-black base.

9. Print and block

The last coat is a windowpane-print coat. I love how it mixes a solid color and a print, and it also gives me trench coat vibes. I styled it with jeans and a black top. This shows how a statement coat can really elevate the simple outfit underneath.
