15 Ways to Style a Crop Top
Let's talk about one of my favorite things: crop tops. I think that they're so versatile, and there are so many ways that you can style them. I've heard from friends that they don't feel comfortable wearing them because they say "I'm too old" or "I'm not a size 2". Girl, stop! You can wear a crop top. Crop tops come in very different shapes, sizes, and cuts. There are so many ways you can style them, and just because it's a crop top doesn't mean that you need to show a lot of skin. You can always style them in a way that is a bit more modest. You can also style them in a chic and put-together way; it doesn't have to be that crop top equals casual.
I'm going to show you ways that I like to style my crop tops and ways that you can transform your regular t-shirts or shirts into a crop top, and the great thing about that is that you can adjust it so that it fits as loose or as tight as you want and as cropped as you want.
Fitted crop top and pleated mini-skirt
The square neckline and puffed sleeves of this top are so glamorous. If Audrey Hepburn were to wear a crop top, this is the one she would wear.
Knotted button-up shirt and mom jeans
This is one of those casual and laid-back looks that you just can't go wrong with. Pair with white loafers or flats to match the shirt.
Boxy crop top and wide-leg jeans
Here the wide silhouette of the boxy top is matched with the wide-leg jeans. The top I'm wearing is tweed and is a really polished piece that you can dress down by wearing with denim.
Boxy button-up crop top and palazzo pants
The cute open neck crop top combined with the wide flares of the trousers are giving me Woodstock vibes. This is a great 70s inspired outfit with a joyful feel.
Cropped knit tee and paperbag trousers
Here I've gone for a suit and sneakers look. The cropped knit tee says, "I'm my own boss."
Cropped fitted tee and silk midi-skirt
For a dressier look, pair your cropped tee with a silk skirt - a material that instantly elevates everything that you wear it with
Cropped fitted tee, jean jacket, and skinny jeans
Want to inject your outfit with a bit of attitude? Combine a cropped tee with an oversized jean jacket. Perfect for stalking the streets in.
Cropped tank top and Bermuda shorts
Elevate your shorts by pairing them with a fancy top. Go for something with an exciting neckline like the top I'm wearing here.
Knotted tee and a-line midi skirt
When knotting a tee, you have the option to either have the knot at the front or the side. I went with a side-tie for an asymmetrical look.
Cropped tank and peg leg pants
This is a gorgeous and flattering combination. The sweeping v-neckline and bodycon fit of this top enhance my figure, and the peg leg pants with heels elongate my legs.
Cropped tank, button-up shirt, and leggings
For an athleisure look, pair a cropped tank and leggings with sneakers. Throw on a button-up shirt for a wearable everyday outfit.
Cropped sweatshirt and bodycon dress
Don't want to reveal any skin? No problem. Simply layer a cropped sweatshirt over a dress, and you have a stylish and modest outfit.
Cropped tank and straight-legged trousers
Don't think that you can wear black in summer? Think again. A black cropped tee allows you to do just that. Go for a monochrome look for a stylish, chic look.
Cropped tee, oversized blazer, and skinny jeans
The tight fit of the cropped tee and the skinny jeans contrasts beautifully with the oversized blazed. Tres chic!
Cropped sweatshirt and paperbag shorts
Don't forget about cropped sweatshirts. I love them just as much as cropped tops. This one looks cute paired with these feminine high-waisted shorts.
So as we've seen, crop tops don't have to be super casual, and they don't have to mean showing a lot of skin. They come in so many different cuts, sizes, and styles that no matter your age or body shape, a crop top is such a versatile piece, and you can find one to suit you.
