DIY Off-the-Shoulder Top

4 Materials

My mission in life is to design and make no-sew outfits, and in this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make an off-the-shoulder top without sewing.

I want to start by telling you a little bit about the fabric that we’re using to make the top - scuba fabric. Scuba fabric is a solid fabric that means that both sides are identical - there is no distinction between right and wrong sides. It is also a self-finished fabric, so it doesn’t fray when you cut it. It is also a stretchy fabric which means that it will be really easy to wear.

Tools and materials:

  • Thin scuba fabric (just over half a yard)
  • Chalk
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors

Fold the fabric in half width-ways and then fold it in half again.

The depth of the neck is 3 inches (7.6cm), and the width is 5.5 inches (14cm), mark this on your fabric.

Proceed to cut the neck-hole out. Unfold the fabric, and you’re done!

And that’s it! Can you believe that it was so easy?! The top is really simple but super cute.

You might want to wear a crop top underneath it as it is open at the sides. There is also the option to wear it just off one shoulder as well, which also looks fab.

I love the way that it hangs on my body; this DIY is so easy and so worth it.

Hi Silem, lol I keep thinking the name is an anagram for Smile. Anyway love the top but make one with sides and see how it turns out. Thinking you can keep the same look and drape and add to the sides or you can cut the whole thing differently to keep the shape by having sides with one seam.

This way you have it is adorable and falls nicely on you and to boot looks good. Thank you for sharing

You could also use small metal eyelets on the sides and use a thin strip of the fabric to lace it up or you could use a contrasting strip.
