How to Style a Bucket Hat

I love wearing bucket hats, all you have to do is put them on your head, and they can instantly inject some personality into your outfit. In this style guide, I’m going to show you some styling ideas for them.

How to style a bucket hat

Patent leather

Here I’m wearing a patent leather black bucket hat. The glossy fabric makes it more of a statement piece instead of just a boring black hat, and it really adds some flair to an outfit. Black is also easy to style with so many different things. I’m wearing it with a jumpsuit that I’ve teamed with a black studded belt, a chain, and chunky boots to create a grungy streetwear style look.

Bucket hat styling

Next up, I’m wearing a bright yellow bucket hat with a top in the same color and some basic white sweatpants and sneakers on the bottom. I didn’t shy away from color here. Instead of just adding a pop of color, I thought, why not add a whole bucket of color and make it bright, bold, and vivacious.

In this look, I’m also matching the color of the hat with my clothing. This outfit is more classy because of the elegance of the trench coat. The more neutral, muted color of the hat creates an entirely different vibe to the other hats I’ve shown. It’s a lot more subtle and understated, great for wearing if you don’t want to make too much of a statement.

Simple bucket hat style

Snakeskin print

I adore animal prints, and here I wanted to show that you can go for a patterned bucket hat instead of one in a solid color. I’m wearing the snakeskin print hat with a super simple blue jeans and black top outfit. The hat here really draws attention and acts as the focal point.

Leopard print

This is another animal print hat that I’ve used to help me create a fierce and powerful outfit. This coat I thrifted, and I just can’t get over how cozy it is, not to mention how commanding the bright orange is. This outfit says go bold or go home.

So that’s five different bucket hats with different colors, prints, and textures. Bucket hats are a great accessory, and you can coordinate them or contrast them with your outfit depending on what look you want to create. No matter what your style is, there is something out there for you.
