How to Upcycle Clothes With Reflective Fabric to Get Flashy Designs

Have you ever considered using reflective fabric? It’s a super cool way to jazz up your clothing items and accessories. Whether you need it while out on the roads or you just want to add a touch of “wow,” then check out this tutorial on easy upcycled clothing ideas using this reflective material fabric strip.
Tools and materials:
- Reflective fabric ribbon
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Fabric glue
- Black cap
- White top
Black cap with reflective fabric
1. Draw the design
I decided to add a funky patch on the front of my plain black cap. So, I hand drew the shape I wanted on the inside of the reflective fabric. Remember, the interior part is not reflective, so it’s best to draw on that side so you don’t mess with the reflective side.
2. Cut your shape
Now, cut out your shape carefully. Here, I decided to go for a striking lightning bolt pattern. But, of course, you can decide on any design that you want.
3. Stick on the piece
With your handy fabric glue, squeeze the glue onto the sides of the pattern and then focus on the inside area. Make sure it’s evenly distributed.
Now, carefully stick on the piece of reflective fabric, and ensure it’s centered.
Your cap is ready! It looks something like this when the lights are off. So cool and flashy - perfect for a fun night out.
White top with reflective fabric
1. Draw the design
Take your gray reflective fabric strip and draw various sized circles.
2. Cut out the pieces
To cut the circles, simply fold the fabric and follow the outlines.
Here are all my cut-out circles.
3. Glue the pieces
Before you go ahead and glue on the pieces, put a newspaper between the fabric layers so that the glue doesn't seep to the bottom layer.
Then, place the circles on the top to form a rough idea of how your design will look.
Take your fabric glue and squeeze a fair amount on each of the circles. Then, glue down the circles.
