Accessorising Tips for Glam Girls

Accessories can sometimes feel like a last-minute addition to your outfit, or maybe you are grabbing the same practical bag everyday without really thinking about it. Practicality is key but we are all stylish women here - how do we change our mindset around accessories and see the potential they have to transform an entire outfit?

Read on to see how you can make accessories work as part of your outfit or even the focal point rather than just something you throw on before you head outside for the day.

We all have those items in our wardrobes that we know don't really flatter us but we hold on to them because we love the colour or the style so much. Dresses like this pink one from Zara can hang a bit like a sack but if you add a belt, like this gorgeous floral one from River Island, it totally transforms the silhouette and makes it much more flattering.

Belts are not just for holding up your jeans. They break up outfits and add personality. The 90s trend has been going strong for a while now and surely the 00s trend of adding a waist belt to everything won't be far behind!

No one can deny the instant allure that a straw hat brings. They can however feel a little over-the-top at times so add a smaller version like the cute ASOS hat above to your wardrobe. I absolutely love the addition of a sweet pink bow - it brings in a cottagecore vibe that is very in fashion at the moment, thanks to the success of Netflix's Bridgerton. (I'm sorry, I just don't get the hype... but of course I love the fashion!)

A cute straw hat is practical and doesn't take up too much space in your wardrobe (or when you're out with your friends! Have you ever accidentally bashed your hat against that of another stylish lady while out? I have!). However, there is definitely still a place for a huge, floppy hat to add a bit of mystery and flair to your outfits. Plus you can spy on people from underneath it.

Of course a pair of statement sunglasses are the ultimate accessory for Summer - not that we've seen much sun recently. (Go home, August, you're drunk.) This is definitely where you might want to incorporate a bit of luxury fashion into your life. Designer sunglasses like this Bvlgari pair are comparatively inexpensive to the brand's other accessories and instantly add glamour to your look.

One pair of black sunglasses and one pair of tortoiseshell should be enough, though if you're a big fan of sunglasses, you could always add a more fun, statement pair as well.
