If you’ve never heard of baby boomer nails, they’re commonly known as the French ombré or the French fade. This is a take on the classic French manicure and has been growing in popularity on YouTube.

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can get baby boomer nails step by step right at home. Let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Gel nail polish
  • Matte top coat
  • Glossy matte top coat
  • Cuticle defender
  • White gel paste
  • Round puffing brush
  • Tweezers
  • UV lamp
Applying a base layer of pink nail polish

1. Apply the base layer of nail polish

Start by applying an even, thin layer of glittery, pale pink nail polish as the base.

Applying a second coat of pink nail polish

Cure under a UV lamp for 30 seconds and then apply a second layer. Cure again for 30 seconds.

Applying a matte gel top coat to nails

2. Apply a top coat

For this nail look, we’re using a no-cleanse matte gel top coat. Apply to each of your nails and cure for 30 seconds.

Applying cuticle defender around the nails

3. Apply cuticle defender

Next, use a cuticle defender and apply it to the outside of your nails. Cuticle defender does exactly as it sounds: it protects your cuticle and all surrounding skin from nail polish, paints, and paste when applying designs.

4. Apply gel paste to create ombré

Using a rounded puff brush, apply a white gel paste to the tips of your nails to create the ombré effect.

If you get too much product, dab some of it out on a clean surface before applying it to your nails, as you want a very soft effect.

Cure under a UV lamp.

Removing the cuticle defender with tweezers

5. Remove cuticle defender

Use tweezers to gently remove the cuticle defender from your skin.

Applying a glossy top coat to the baby boomer nails

6. Apply a top coat

Finish off the baby boomer nails by applying a glossy top coat. Cure for 30 seconds.

Products come from the Russian Federation. We have suspended dealings with them. Are sales like this still going through, when they shouldn't?

Hello Faye, are you referring to this post? If so you give no references and proof of your claim. This is reversing what this country used to protect in justice....INNNOCENT until proven guilty. Have a great day and please stay safe.
