How to Create Big, Sexy Volumized Hair

Whether you have fine, thin, wavy or straight hair, these tips will work wonders for adding bounce and body to your mane.

Tools and materials:
- Claw clip
- Heat protectant spray
- Paddle brush
- Hot brush
- Wide tooth comb
- Hairspray
1. Prep your lower layer of hair
Start off with dry hair (mine was washed and dried the day before). Clip up the top half of your hair with a claw clip. Then apply heat protectant spray to each section.
Comb the product through with a brush as you go.
2. Use a hot brush on the bottom layer of your hair
I’m going to show you how to use a hot brush without having it get tangled in your hair.
Some people found this difficult, especially with long hair, but this is an excellent tool for adding big volume and I have some useful tips for success.
Imagine that the hair is halved at your neck. Each side will be divided into 3.Grab the back section and run the hot brush through it from the root in 1 swift motion.
This will help smooth and soften the hair follicles, helping to prevent tangling.
Next, wrap the hair around the hot brush in a 360 degree turn, with the handle, and it’s going to glide through that section.
The key is to hold the hot brush either down or up (I find it easier in the downward direction).
No tangling! Here’s the result:
Repeat with the middle section of hair, first smoothing it in the hot brush and then wrapping the hair around the brush and handle.
If the tip comes off, make sure to wrap it around so it gets heat too.
Curl the front section.
I try to alternate the direction of the curls, usually with the back section curled away from the face, the middle section toward it, and the front section away from it.
This way, the curls won’t lock together.
Smooth and curl the hair on the other side in the same way.
3. Curl another layer of hair
Take out some of the hair from the clip and apply heat protectant spray. Brush as you go with your paddle brush.
Smooth and then curl the hair in sections with the hot brush, just as you did with the bottom layer of hair.
Repeat for all sections of the loose hair, remembering to alternate directions of the curl.
4. Curl the topmost layer
Let out the rest of the hair from the clip, spray, brush, smooth and curl in the same fashion.
Be sure to curl the face-framing hair away from your face.
5. Loosen the curls
Run a wide tooth comb through your hair, in sections, to help blend the curls and loosen them.
Then give your hair a good shake.
6. Apply hairspray
Apply hairspray while lifting it in sections to make sure this big volume lasts longer.
Flip the front section of hair over for extra volume!

How to achieve big sexy hair volume
With this method, my hair stays curly the next day, even after sleeping. It might lose some volume, but you can touch it up with more hairspray and a shake.
