Easy Billie Eilish Blood-drip Shirt Tutorial
I’m going to show you a step-by-step tutorial for how to paint dripping blood on a shirt. This DIY is inspired by Billie Eilish’s dripping blood shirt from her music video ‘Bad Guy’. You can wear this as part of a Billie Eilish costume or incorporate it into another spooky Halloween costume.
Tools and materials:
- White button-up shirt
- Fabric paint
- Paint brushes
- Cardboard
- Pencil
1. Prepare your shirt
If you have a mannequin, place your shirt on the mannequin. If not, you can just paint your shirt on a flat surface. Just don't forget to put cardboard inside of your shirt as you don’t want the paint to seep through to the other side.
2. Sketch the dripping blood
First, sketch dripping blood on the shirt with a pencil. You can either go straight into it or first find some images of dripping blood to use as a reference. I have also drawn little splatters of blood beneath the drips.
3. Paint red
When your sketching is done, use some red fabric paint and a medium size brush to color the blood red.
4. Add a lighter tone
Now take some white paint and mix it with red and with this lighter color paint the upper part of the blood.
5. Add a darker tone
Then, mix the red with blue and brown colors to create a dark red color. With this dark red color, paint the lower part of the blood and the right side of the drips.
6. Blend the red shades
At the top of the shirt, you want to ensure that there aren’t any harsh lines as we want a natural-looking ombre effect, not three distinct colors.
Add more paint where needed and blend the dark and light shades to create a smooth transition.
7. Add white highlights
For a more detailed look, use white paint with a small paintbrush to paint highlights on the drips.
8. Outline with dark red
Finish off by outlining the left side of the drips with the dark red color. Then wait for the paint to dry and you are done!
