DIY Flannel Shirt Update Ideas | DIY Flannel Refashions
I'm jumping into fall and updating a basic flannel shirt. This is such an easy and cute update to a transition a boring basic flannel. I'm making some simple changes using some iron-on letters and creating some fun elbow patches. A cute, bold trendy quote on the back is really all that's needed to elevate this flannel. This flannel shirt would be perfect to wear open and paired with a graphic or basic t-shirt. Find out how I achieved this look below!
Materials:
- 1 Flannel Shirt
- Iron-on Letters
- Iron-on Patches (Typically comes with a set of 2)
- Iron
- Scissors
Step 1: Flip over the flannel shirt to back side. Start laying out your iron- on letters.
Step 2: Position and adjust the letters where you want them to be placed on the shirt.
Step 3: Iron-on the letters to the back of the shirt based on the instructions that came with the iron- on letters.
Step 4: Grab the iron-on patch material to create the elbow patches. Find an oval object and trace the shape using a pen or pencil. (I found an oval food storage container that I used to trace for my elbow patch). You can also just purchase already sized and cut elbow patches.
Step 5: Cut out both oval elbow patches.
Step 6: Try on the flannel shirt and mark the location of your elbows with tape.
Step 7: Remove the tape and iron on an elbow patch on each sleeve in its place.
And that's all it is to it! I may be late, but I'm going to be the best dressed! I love the style of this updated flannel shirt! This is such a cute fall go to staple. The elbow patches gives it an iconic look. What do you think? Try it out! Come say hi and tag me @Craftingwithcass on Instagram if you decide to create your own!
