Do you love braids and buns? I have a gorgeous hairstyle to show you that incorporates both.

Keep reading to find out how to create this braided flower updo.

Tools and materials:

  • Hair ties
  • Bobby pins
Tying ponytails

1. Tie ponytails

First, tie your hair into three ponytails - one at the top, middle, and bottom of your head, as shown.

Clip the top one out of the way so that you can easily access the middle one.

2. Twist middle ponytail

Divide the middle ponytail in two and twist the two sides together.

Wrapping hair into bun

3. Wrap into bun

Wrap the braid around the middle elastic to form a bun.

Pinning

4. Pin

Pin it in place when you reach the end.

Twisting

5. Twist top ponytail

Now divide the top ponytail into two and twist the two sides together.

Pinning

6. Wrap around bun

Wrap it around the bun that you already have and pin it in place when you reach the end.

Twisting

7. Twist bottom ponytail

Lastly, twist the bottom ponytail as you’ve done with the other two.

Pinning

8. Wrap around bun

Wrap it around the bun in the center and pin it when you reach the end.

Here is the finished look - we have an inner, middle, and outer circle, which all come together to create a beautiful braided bun.

I like to call this look the braided flower updo because the different braids remind me of layers of petals.
