If you have fallen out of love with your closet and feel you have nothing to wear, this is for you.

I’m going to talk you through how to shop your closet so that you can rediscover it anew. Let’s get started with the first tip!

Outfit idea

1. Find different ways of styling existing pieces

We often get stuck in styling our pieces the same way over and over, which can become too monotonous.

Try styling colors, textures, or silhouettes in ways you haven't done before. Color has a lot to do with how fresh our outfits and our wardrobe can feel to us.

Even if you are a neutral person, consider a pop of color in an accessory or a piece of jewelry. An injection of color can completely transform your outfit.

Outfit idea

Take a printed piece in your closet that you only style with solid colors, and try styling it with another print.

You may be surprised to find that they actually work together, and voila, you have a brand new outfit from existing pieces.

Outfit idea

Alternatively, try colors that you wouldn't think of pairing together.

Keep it simple in terms of the cut and the fabrics.

Getting style inspiration

2. Get inspired by social media

Instead of scrolling aimlessly, try to find someone you have a similar style to, to give you some inspiration for how to style your pieces.

I’m not suggesting you copy them, but use their style to pick up some ideas.

Organizing closet

3. Organize and rearrange your closet

We have to have an organized closet so we can see everything we have.

We tend to open our closets, and we grab the first thing we see, but if you rearrange that and put the things that are at the front and the back or rearrange them by style and by color, you will start to pick out different things.

4. Don’t save the best for special occasions

Sometimes we limit how we wear our clothes, we think that casuals are just for running errands and you know more dressy or more statement pieces are just for special occasions.

Clothes are made to be worn so find ways to wear your statement pieces in different ways.

One of my favorite ways to style a t-shirt is by pairing it with formal wear, the type of piece that you have only worn once since you bought it years ago.

5. Know what works for you

You need to know what works for your body shape. For example, if you love the idea of low-rise pants but know that they will make your legs appear larger and shorter than they really are, recognize that this style isn’t for you.

You can go for something similar that has the same effect but won't compromise on the way you look.

For example, you can go for mid-rise pants instead. You can always adjust things to your specifics.

How to shop your closet

I hope the tips I’ve given you will help you to break out of your style rut and fall in love with your wardrobe once again.

I hope you’ve managed to pick up some ideas on how to go about your wardrobe moving forward - it doesn't need to be anything too transformative, just little tweaks here and there.
