However much we strive for a capsule wardrobe, full of garments that will stand the test of time, there's no denying that every now and then, we're tempted to add a few new pieces to our collections... and what better time than when we're coming into a new season?

Here in the UK the sun is only peeking out but us Brits are ready for pretty dresses and sandals. Here are 4 styles you should think about adding to your wardrobe if you haven't already.

A white dress is non-negotiable in 2024. White is the colour of the season, and it's such a chic colour. You don't have to go for bright white to tick off this trend - shades of ivory, cream and ecru will do just fine.

These are the capsule wardrobe lover's favourite type of trends, the ones that never really go out of style but are enjoying the spotlight at the moment. It means there is plenty of choice of white dresses out there that will work in your wardrobe for years to come.

You'd be surprised how many occasions you'll be able to pull out a tea dress for. They strike the perfect balance between casual and polished, my favourite combo! This means they work for the office, casual lunches, weddings, picnics, all sorts of events. They also look really nice with cropped outerwear such as a denim jacket, so can work for cooler, wetter days too.

For Kate Middleton vibes, why not treat yourself to an L K Bennett tea dress? This is one of the Princess of Wales' favourite brands and tea dresses are a staple in her wardrobe.

There is nothing better than a shirred empire line dress in the middle of a heatwave, especially for us big-busted ladies as it gives us a little support so we can forego those hot sweaty bras! This sage green one is an Amazon bargain, and comes in an array of different colours.

I love leaning into the femininity of this Regency-reminiscent dress by accessorizing with a straw bag, preferably full of picnic items.

You can't beat a classic shirt dress no matter the time of year. I find these to be great all-weather dresses, as the shirt style and material helps keep you a little warmer and layers easily under trenchcoats and jackets. Pair with cute ballet flats or loafers in case of rain.

This is yet another style that works for all sorts of occasions, such as going to the office, brunch, or the theatre.
