Do you love gingham for summer? When I saw these pretty blue gingham pants for women at two of my favorite retailers, I had to check them out!

I think gingham is such a classic pattern for summery looks.

We all love the red and white check of a barbecue tablecloth.

It’s just so happy!

Talbots has a cute pair of cropped gingham pants with 97% cotton and 3% spandex. They have a cute tab at the ankle and hit at one’s waist. J McLaughlin has a pair that is made of 76% rayon, 21% nylon, and 3% spandex. They have a bit of a kick flare hem and a wide waistband with a tummy control panel. Both are terrific and both are in a pale blue gingham check. Today they’re both the same price as the J McLaughlin ones are on sale.

Outfit #1 With a Print Shirt and a Pretty Summer Sweater
In this first look, I took a pair of blue gingham pants and paired it with last summer's print top (similar, here and here). Then, I tied a lilac sweater around my neck.

Has it been really crazy weather for you? Here, it’s been really cool and I am glad I purchased several summer sweaters recently. In this first look, I took a pair of blue gingham pants and paired it with last summer’s print top (similar, here and here). Then, I tied a lilac sweater around my neck. I really like mixing patterns and a Pro-tip for doing so involves using the same or similar colors in each piece. In this look, the sweater is a deep lilac which is in the print of the shirt. The shirt has a pretty light blue mixed in which coordinates well with the blue gingham pants.

Here is a closeup of the print shirt, lilac sweater and the fun striped mini wicker bag.

Above you can see a close-up of the print shirt, tied sweater, and my very fun Talbots mini wicker bag which was gifted to me. I love it! All the colors are represented in the bag and its tassels.

Here I am wearing the lilac sweater over the print shirt with the blue gingham pants, and nude flat sandals.

Here, you can see me wearing the sweater with the collar, cuffs, and tails peeking out. This is a cute way to wear these pieces if the day turns cooler.

For a warmer day just wear this print shirt with these gingham pants.

Above, you can see just the print shirt and blue gingham pants if the day is warm. You could also roll the sleeves up for more style and interest. Please note, these shirts are VERY light-weight which makes them a great solution for my ladies who are uncomfortable showing their upper arms.

Outfit #2 Blue Gingham Pants for Women with a White Popover Shirt
I am wearing a white short-sleeved popover shirt over my pale blue gingham slacks.

I love how simple and crisp this outfit looks for a hot summer barbecue or summer party! The white shirt is so cute because it’s longer in the back (see below) and has sharp, rolled short sleeves for a bit more coverage than a sleeveless top. Pro-tip: I wore nude flat sandals as they go with most summer looks.

This is a close-up of the white popover with a front placket. The front is shorter than the back.

Here is a close-up of the Talbots popover. The placket goes halfway down the top and fits me well in a size small.

Here is the back of the shirt. It has cute pearl buttons down the entire back.

Here is the back of this very cute top. The buttons go all the way down and really add some fun detail. The fabric is sheer enough to show a bit of the gingham check, but not so much as to show my nude bra.

Outfit #3 Blue Gingham Pants for Women Worn with a Blue Linen Cardigan
Here I am wearing a white v-neck tank with a pale blue linen cardigan over it. I have wrapped a blue beaded necklace around my neck to fill in the neckline. Again I am wearing my striped mini wicker bag from Talbots.

As I mentioned above, some of us are experiencing cooler-than-usual temperatures so this third look is very appropriate. I took a white V-neck Michael Stars tank (that I love for its heft and thickness so one’s bra doesn’t show) and put it under a very pretty blue linen Talbots cardigan. The cardigan is a boyfriend style and I am wearing a size small.

Here is a close-up of my necklace and cardigan.

I added a long strand of turquoise beads (from Nordstrom Rack) ( similar here, and here) that I wrapped around my neck three times. This served as visual interest and fills in the neckline a bit.

Here is a close-up of my wicker bag, showing the pastel stripes and pastel raffia tassels.

Again, I am wearing my very cute (and on 40% off sale) Talbots mini wicker bag that is so fun to wear! Aren’t the tassels soooo cute?!

Outfit #4 Blue Gingham Pants for Women Worn with a Graphic Tee and a White Jean Jacket
In this photo, I am standing under a bronze arbor while wearing a navy blue vintage tee, a white jean jacket, and blue gingham pants. My shoes are silver loafers.

My youngest son Jake Is getting married next month in Philadelphia. So when I saw this graphic tee last year, I had to get it! I pulled it out because this other day began the 30-day countdown to the wedding! I’m so excited!

I wore the navy graphic tee (similar, here and here) but you could easily wear a solid navy tee as well. I love a white jean jacket as it looks clean and crisp against the blue gingham pants for women. I wore these silver loafers from Sam Edelman (on sale!). Many people struggle with what type of shoes to wear with blue pants, for some reason. I love the silver loafers, but would also like white platform gym shoes, or of course, nude flat sandals. All these options would look great with blue pants.

Here is a closeup of the graphic tee and the white jean jacket over the blue gingham pants.
