Easy Chrome French Tip Nails Tutorial
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to do chrome French tip nails.
I’ve been wanting to do French nails with chrome where you put the chrome all over the manicure, but you have a dark color underneath so the chrome really pops. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Chrome powder
- Gel color nail polish
- Gel base coat
- Gel top coat
- Striping brush
- Peel base
- Clean brush
1. Apply the base
Apply your base color and then apply a layer of gel base and gel top coat over top of it.
For the base, I used a baby pink gel color. I also used a peel base underneath everything.
2. Draw the basic shape of the French tip
To do the French tip, use a long striping brush to draw in the basic shape.
The technique with the brush is to start with a line across where you want the base of the French tip to be.
Then, go down your nails with the sides of the brush to make the dropped part of the French tip.
3. Fill it in
Fill in the rest of the nail inside the outline, and curve around it to get the classic French tip look.
4. Clean up the lines
Use a fresh clean-up brush to crispen up the French line.
5. Apply a gel top coat
Now for the chrome, start by applying a gel top coat and then flash cure for only ten seconds.
6. Rub the chrome into your nail
Apply the chrome to your nail with a small brush and rub it into the nail.
7. Apply gel base
Apply a gel base over the chromed nails. Cure.
8. Apply gel top coat to your nails
Apply a gel top coat to your nails. Cure.
Chrome French tip nails
This method gets you really slick and super sheer-looking nails.
Alternatively, if you want a shimmery chrome effect, you can apply the chrome over a few layers of base gel to get that look instead. I did this technique on the thumb!
