In this DIY, I’m going to show you how to make botanical body oil that’s infused with marigolds and would make a wonderful Christmas gift!

This oil has many wonderful natural properties, and I'll talk about the benefits of each ingredient. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Bowl
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Grapeseed oil
  • Sunflower oil
  • Dried marigold
  • Pot
  • Spoon
  • Bottle
  • Sieve
  • Jug
  • Spatula
  • Orange essential oil
Mixing ingredients

1. Combine ingredients

In a bowl, combine sweet almond oil, vitamin E oil, grapeseed oil, and sunflower oil.

Then add in some dried marigold flowers because they have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which are great for the health of our skin. Mix all of the ingredients together well.

2. Boil the oils

Next, place the bowl with the oils on a double boiler for two hours, as this will combine all of our oils.

Adding flowers

3. Add flowers to the bottle

Place some dried marigold flowers in the bottle that you’ll be transferring the oil mixture to.

I find that the easiest way to put the flowers in the bottle is to place them all in my palm and then wiggle the bottle up to the flowers, using my thumb to help push the petals in.

Sieving the oil mixture

4. Sieve the oil mixture

Sieve the oil mixture to separate the liquid from the solids. Use a spatula to help you squeeze out the oil from the flowers.

Adding essential oil

5. Add essential oil

Make sure your oil mixture has cooled down before you add any essential oil to it.

I added 20 drops of sweet orange essential oil to mine. Stir the oil mixture thoroughly.

Transferring mixture

6. Transfer to bottle

Transfer the oil mixture to your easy applicator bottle.

Let’s talk about the benefits of each ingredient:

  • Sunflower oil is highly absorbent and does not clog pores. It is non-irritating and safe to use on all skin types.

  • Sweet almond oil helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks, helping improve complexion and skin tone.

  • Grapeseed oil makes skin softer and more elastic, and it contains high levels of linoleic acid. There's also vitamin E found in grapeseed oil, which will help moisturize and nourish our skin.
