10 Easy Black Dress Halloween Ideas

Tools and materials:

• Little black dress
• Assorted costume accessories
• Adhesive tape
• Sparkly fabric ribbon
• Black tights
• Red tights
• Assorted footwear

1. Dress up as a jellyfish

All you need for this jellyfish costume is your little black dress, a clear umbrella, some wide sparkly fabric ribbon and adhesive tape.

Simply tape long strips of ribbon around the bottom edge of your umbrella. Notice the cute pink boots I added to this jellyfish costume.

2. Transform your black dress to a skeleton

I kept this Halloween costume pretty simple by purchasing a skeleton bodysuit to wear under my little black dress, and some skeleton thigh-high socks paired with my black ankle boots.

If you wanted to take this costume up a notch you could always do some skeleton makeup!

3. A Halloween butterfly

All I needed for this costume was some beautiful flowy butterfly wings. I also added some antennae I bought, but you could always make antennae yourself with pipe cleaners and a headband.

4. A black-dressed devil

OK, so usually you would expect to see a devil in a red dress, but this little black dress version is pretty classy looking. 

Wear red tights and pick up some devil horns and a pitchfork. Note the peep-toe shoes to show more of the red tights, and don’t forget some red lipstick to finish off the look!

5. Try this alien costume

A simple metallic bodysuit from Amazon transformed my black dress into this costume. Add an alien headband and some glitter on your face, and you're ready for your Halloween party!

6. Be a superhero

Here’s a Batgirl costume that just needed a Batman/Batgirl cape and mask from my party store added to my black dress. My black booties completed the look.

7. The classic Halloween witch costume

You can’t get more classic than a witch on Halloween. Pick up a witch’s hat and broom, add a mesh shirt under your black dress and some black booties and you’re ready to fly off to your Halloween party!

8. Dress up as Minnie Mouse

For this cute Minnie Mouse costume, I put a long-sleeved black crop-top over my black dress and wore opaque black tights.

You can buy Minnie Mouse gloves and ears from a party store, and then wear yellow heels to complete this costume.

9. Create this cheetah costume

For this black cheetah costume, I started with a cheetah-print bodysuit under my black dress. The cheetah ears are from a party store, and, once again, I chose my black booties.

For makeup, you can use eyeliner to make winged eyes, a cheetah nose and whiskers.

10. Little Red Riding Hood Halloween costume

Here’s another classic. All you need is a red cape with a hood from a party store. A little basket adds to the effect but isn’t totally necessary.
