If you watched Emily in Paris (like so many of us!) and want to emulate that Parisian “je ne sais quoi”, try out this 60s inspired, Emily in Paris hairstyle.

Grab a feminine, black silk bow and a few items you probably have on hand and follow along with my step-by-step tutorial.

Tools and materials:

  • Hair elastic
  • Hair brush
  • Claw clip
  • 2-3 bobby pins
  • Black, silk bow clip
Making a ponytail

1. Make a perfect ponytail

Using a hair elastic and your brush as needed, tie your hair into a perfect ponytail. Make sure everything is smooth before you continue.

2. Loop the hair and clip it

Make a long loop with your ponytail and scoop half of the loop, as in the photo below:

Then, twist the hair into a bun, clipping it toward the top of your head.

3. Spread the bun

Next, gently pull the bun on either side to spread it open.

4. Secure

Depending on the volume and length of your hair, use about 2-3 bobby pins to secure the hair in the front of the bun.

5. Top it off with a bow

For a feminine twist, clip on a black, silk bow below the bun. Here’s the final, Emily in Paris hairstyle:
