Pulling out face-framing pieces

1. Pull out the face-framing pieces

Separate the face-framing pieces away from the rest of your hair. You won’t be braiding these.

Tying front section

2. Tie a section in the front

Take a small section of hair at the front of your head and tie it back. Tighten it.

Clipping hair

Clip it away for now.

Sectioning hair

3. Create a new section behind the first

Create a second section roughly the same size as the first right behind it.

Splitting section

4. Split the first section into two

Split the first section in half.

Pulling second section through first

5. Pull the second section through the first

Pull the entire second section between the two split sides of the first section.

Combining sections

6. Combine the split section with a third section

Create a new section behind the second one, and then recombine the two sides of the first section with it.

Combining sections

7. Repeat

Repeat this process down the rest of your scalp. Each section will get thicker the more hair you add.

Once you run out of hair to add, just finish the braid down the length of your hair with the remaining three sections.

Pinch and pull at the sides of the “braid” to thicken it and add volume.
