How to Do Elegant White & Gold Nails With a Half-Moon Manicure
Today, we’ll be doing a half-moon manicure with white and gold nails. This is one of my favorite manicures; it’s very easy to do and turns out so pretty, so if you’ve been on the lookout for white and gold nail designs, you’re in luck. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- White nail polish
- Gold nail polish
- Top coat
1. Apply gold nail polish
For the base, I picked out this gorgeous golden color. The gold I’m using is very true to gold and isn’t a yellow-gold, which I love. It works beautifully for white and gold nail designs.
Apply two coats of the gold base to each of your nails. Before moving on to the next step, make sure your nails are fully dry. If the polish isn’t dry, you’ll smudge your whole manicure and ruin it. You don’t want to start all over, so make sure to keep this in mind!
2. Apply white nail polish
Next, grab your white nail polish. I love white nail polish - it’s the most used polish in my entire collection and for good reason.
For this step, apply the polish to your nails and it’ll be like you’re painting your nails all over again, but this time you’re leaving some space between your cuticles.
The polish should be curved around the nail and not straight as this is how you achieve the half-moon nail design.
If you need to add a second coat of white polish to make it more opaque, let the original coat dry first so you don’t ruin the manicure.
3. Apply a top coat
Finish the look by applying a top coat. Personally, I love having my nails glossy but if you want a different variation to your half-moon nails, you can make the white polish matte and that’ll look just as awesome.

Ugh. Rather, ugly and tacky. They look like 1/2 grown out bear claws cut with cable cutters. They are not elegant or attractive. They should extend just slightly beyond the tip of your finger and have an elegant rounded tip. AND then painted the same colour. I don't know where anyone gets the idea that those in the photos are anything but ugly. Elegant! Timeless! That's what you aim for!
