Halloween is approaching and today I've got some low-effort last-minute Halloween costumes to show you.

Let’s take a look at some fun and simple Halloween costumes for your closet, based on pieces that you can easily pull out of your own wardrobe and style in different ways.

Velma from Scooby Doo costume

Velma

First up is Velma from Scooby Doo. Any orange sweater and skirt combo with the red tights is going to be iconic and a pair of black heels and a fake pair of glasses (or real glasses) will finish off the look perfectly.

Cruella costume

Cruella

I love the new Cruella Deville movie and I think the fashion in it is impeccable. So, I definitely took some inspiration from that for this Cruella look with the black tights and the pop of red shoes.

I've got a vintage houndstooth skirt with a nice slit up the side along with a leather blouse and a fur coat. The fur coat is essential for this look, and I recommend checking out your local thrift store if you don’t have one.

60s girl costume

60s girl

I have a lot of 60s mod dresses in my closet and this next outfit is a generation sort of costume. I've paired the dress with some go-go boots for that 60s vibe.

Cowgirl costume

Cowgirl

I am obsessed with leather and suede and so I have a lot of pieces in my wardrobe. I thought this waistcoat was quite cowgirl-esque and that’s how we have this outfit!

I paired a beige waistcoat and skirt with a black bralette and black boots. Then, of course, I needed a cowboy hat to finish it off.

Playboy bunny costume

This next outfit is really fun, albeit not the most appropriate for all situations.

To create the look, you can take any black bodysuit and pair it with some black leather or silk gloves, black tights, and black heels.

Then, get a little tail and some ears at the costume store. You can also add shorts to make it a little more conservative if you want.

The Heathers costume

The Heathers

Of course, you're going to see The Heathers in this lookbook. I have an extreme love for musical theater and I’m obsessed with the movie The Heathers.

All you need is a plaid skirt, a turtleneck sweater, a blazer in the same color and tights or knee-highs and shoes. And there you have Heather McNamara who is the mean one.

Veronica Sawyer costume

Then we've got Veronica Sawyer, the heroine. I went ahead and picked some darker accent pieces for her because she's definitely a darker character. I really like her aesthetic and her vibe.

Heather Duke costume

This is Heather Duke who is the best character in my opinion. She's the one with the moral compass and the one who changes the most throughout the story.

Tuca & Bertie costume

Tuca & Bertie

Next, we have Bertie. I have on a nice vintage pair of jeans from the men's section that I went ahead and distressed. I've just got a red turtleneck to match hers as well as my white boots.

Witch costume

Witch

I like the concept of a witch costume, but this is sort of 90s post-grunge modern witch. I’m wearing a corset top and the skirt portion is actually a dress that I've tucked inside itself. I've also put on some tall boots and black lipstick. And voila! I’ve got myself a witchy costume.

Halloween costumes from your closet

There we have some cool and easy Halloween costumes, created simply by pulling pieces out from my closet that I already own and styling them in creative ways.

This was so fun to do and not to mention cheaper than buying costumes new. Take a look in your closet this Halloween and you may just surprise yourself with what costumes you can create.
