Today, I’m going to show you how to make a bag inspired by the Baggu and Sandy Liang collaboration for only a fraction of the price.

Best of all, this is a no-sew project, so put that needle and thread down, grab a glue gun, and let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Bag
  • Ribbon
  • Glue gun
  • Safety pins
  • Tape measure
  • Scissors
  • Lighter
Cutting ribbon

1. Cut ribbon

Cut a strip of ribbon that is about 10.5 inches (27cm)

Gluing center

2. Glue the center

To make a bow, fold the strip in half and press the center down to make a fold mark.

Open it up, and you have your midway point. Use your glue gun to draw a small line across it horizontally.

Folding ribbon

3. Fold into middle

Fold both sides into the middle.

Cut-down ribbon

4. Cut small ribbon

Cut a 2-inch (5cm) strip of ribbon.

Gluing center

5. Put glue in center

Put a little dot of glue in the center of the ribbon you just made.

Adding ribbon

6. Put ribbon on

Then, put the small strip over it evenly.

Gluing ends

7. Glue ends

Turn the large ribbon over and put small dots of glue on the two ends of the little ribbon.

Sticking down

8. Stick down

Stick them both down into the center.

Long strands of ribbon

9. Cut long strands

Cut two pieces of ribbon that are each 16 inches (41cm) long. Cut the ends at a 45-degree angle.

Gluing ribbon

10. Stick to ribbon

Stick both of them to the back of the small ribbon.

Burning ends

11. Burn ends

The last step is to just burn the ends so that they don’t fray.

Attaching to bag

12. Attach to bag

Attach the bow to your bag with a safety pin. I pinned mine to the side of the bag at the bottom of the strap.

Then, repeat all the steps to make another bow and pin it to the other side of the bag.

Here is the finished piece. As you can see, I also made some little bows and pinned them to the main body of the bag.

I love the long strands of ribbon hanging down from either side of the bag and I think the whole design is super unique and trendy.

I hope you’ll give it a go for yourself!
