Create a darling and unique hand stitched envelope bag with felt and twine.

This bag is PERFECT for holding the most important things. For some this might be cosmetics or jewelry. For others it could be photographs or travel documents. For me, this bag is perfect for holding my empowerment and tarot cards.

Materials and Supplies Needed

  • Kunin Classic Felt Craft Sheets
  • Hemptique Twine
  • 2 Large Buttons
  • Hole Puncher that Punches Through Fabric/Felt
  • Scissors
  • Fabric Glue
Directions

Start by cutting the felt into three pieces to make your bag. They will need to be the following sizes.

  • 8 x 5 inches (back)
  • 5.5 x 5 inches (front)
  • 5 x 4 inches (inside top)

Next glue the smallest piece of felt to the top of the largest, leaving a little space on all sides.

Then pin the other piece (top) to the other piece (back) with the bottom corners matched up. Use the hoe punch to punch holes around all three sides.

Use a long piece of hemp cord twine to stitch the front and back together by wrapping through the punched holes with knots at either end.

To create the closure, stitch two buttons on. Place one on the front flap of the bag and one on the bottom middle front. Use a long piece of hemp cord twine wrapped around to make the “envelope” closure.
